What Is Lyrica? | Epilepsy

la description:
Watch more Epilepsy \u0026 Seizure Disorders videos:\n\n\n\nLyrica is another newer anti-epileptic, otherwise known as Pregabalin. It’s also indicated for partial complex seizures. It has some moderate good results in controlling seizures, except that it can cause some sedation. Dizziness, um, drowsiness, those are the biggest side effects with it. You know, but it’s a good medication. It has some other FDA approvals for using it for Restless Legs Syndrome, as well as some nerve pain issues. Not one of our stronger anti-seizure medications, but another option. So, certainly not in your top 2 or 3 choices of an anti-seizure medication. More for the people who have a lot of difficulties and very difficult to control. Right. So, really the intractable epilepsies is a fourth or fifth line agent. It works well in some of the population, but it’s not a home run. So, it’s important to have a discussion with the people taking care of you whether this is a good option. Look at what other medications are available. But certainly this is on the list of things to think about if you’ve had trouble with other anti-seizure medication.
